Should I name the technician in a reply?

If the reviewer named them, yes. It reinforces that real people do the work.

How short can a 5-star reply be?

One or two sentences is fine, as long as it echoes something specific from the review.

A 5-star HVAC review often mentions the tech by name and how fast the house got comfortable again. Echo that detail and thank them.
